What are non-medical home care services?
Non-medical home care services, which may be provided by a home services agency, include assistance with activities of daily living (walking, bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, etc.), light housekeeping, running errands, meal preparations, reminding (medication, dates, etc.), and providing companionship. Non-medical home care services are provided by caregivers, CNAs, and companions, who undergo a minimum of 8 hours of training prior to employment.

Will Medicare pay for non-medical home care services?
Medicare will not pay for non-medical home care services provided by a home services agency. If you require non-medical home care, certain insurances, such as long-term care insurance, may provide coverage. We encourage you to check with your insurance company for more information.

How do I choose the right home care agency?
In order to choose the right home care agency, you must first determine the type of services needed by you or your loved one. If you or your loved one is in need of non-medical home care, then you may use a home services agency. However, if medical or skilled care must be provided, then you will be required to use services provided by a home health agency. In all cases, you should ensure that the agency you contact is licensed by the Department of Public Health and certified through Medicare.

Are your caregivers insured and bonded?
Caregivers provided by Affordable Home Care Services, Inc. are employees of Affordable Home Care Services, Inc. Affordable Home Care Services, Inc. is responsible for paying all applicable taxes associated with the caregiver’s employment, as well as worker’s compensation. In addition, all employees are fully bonded and insured.

Will I be able to choose my own caregiver/home health worker?
In order to provide you or your loved one with the best possible services, we believe you should be involved in many of the decisions that are made regarding your care plan. This includes choosing the worker assigned to provide services for you. The information you provide us on the initial assessment form will be used to assist us in assigning a worker who can best meet your needs. If you are not satisfied with the worker assigned to your case, we will work with you to assign a better match.

Will I or my family member always receive care from the same caregiver?
Our goal is to establish a long-term relationship between you or your loved one and the caregiver. We understand that strong rapport and trust between the client and caregiver is vital to a successful home care experience. Depending on the plan of care, it may be necessary to assign more than one caregiver.

Can I change or discontinue the services my loved one receives?
We understand that a plan of care often changes. As a result, we will always work with you to accommodate your needs. You are never bound to a long-term contract, so you may cancel the services you are receiving at any time. By the client for any reason upon 72 hours written notice to AHCS. In the event of termination, client agrees to pay to AHCS any outstanding fees for services rendered. If the client breaches or fails to comply with any terms of this Agreement, AHCS may terminate services. When services are terminated by the agency, the client is to be notified at least seven working days in advance of the date of termination, with a stated reason for the termination. The seven-day notice is not applicable in cases in which the home services worker's safety is at risk. In such cases, the agency may notify the client of termination of services immediately and the reason for termination. Immediately upon the death of the Client.

Is a physician's authorization needed for non-medical home care services?
No. You do not need pre-authorization, pre-qualification, certification or even a prescription to begin receiving non-medical home care services.

How much do your services cost?
The cost of services will depend on the scope of services needed (non-medical home care services or home health services); the number of hours needed; and the overall plan of care. For more information on our rates, please contact our office at (630) 455-0702.

Do I pay the caregiver directly?
No. Every two weeks, you (or an authorized representative) will receive an invoice for services provided. All payments for services will be directed to Affordable Home Care Services, Inc., and the agency will be responsible for paying its employees.

How is the privacy of my personal information maintained?
We adhere to all applicable federal and state guidelines related to privacy of personal and healthcare information. Our client services agreement specifies how personal information may or may not be used and who will have access to your personal information. We will never provide any information about you to a third party.
